This test image is based on finding patterns in networks of data which is a possible new direction for my work. The idea here is to construct a rule for deciding when adjacent points are connected and then to give each connected component the same colour. “Connectedness” is an important concept in many parts of mathematics including my own area of algebraic topology. The large version of this image is remarkably detailed even under high magnification.
